The Spectacle of Us

Edgar Martins
The Spectacle of Us

Although physically absent from these images, we co-inhabit their symbolic and psychological space. In revealing that we are ultimately subject to the same dimensional sphere, and in recognising that the ‘Other’ (as a product of the binarism that pervades our language and our system of knowledge) plays an intrinsic part in defining our perception of ourselves and the world we live in. These images no longer function as a testament to The Spectacle of the Other. Rather, they repeatedly reinforce the The Spectacle of Us.
